Hi! My name is Roy Hubbard, I’m so glad for your visit to my blog. Here you will read random snippets of my thoughts on all things related to photography, one of my greatest passions and my number-one creative outlet. Be on the lookout for articles about subjects such as lighting and post processing, details about my shoots, and my forays into the realm of professional photography.
Like so many aspects of my life, I began my journey with photography on a whim. It all started in August of 2007 when I bought my first DSLR, the Nikon D40. I’d only intended to replace my failing point and shoot digital camera, but felt an overwhelming urge to try out something ‘professional’. I had no idea at the time just what that meant or what I was getting myself into. Today I shoot with a mix of Nikon digital SLRs and 35mm and medium format film cameras. I develop my own black and white film, and enjoy working in both the ‘old’ way and the new.
Photography has been a whirlwind tour of learning, new gear, new faces, and treks off the beaten path, and my life has taken on a whole new direction. Here I intend to share some of my very favorite moments that I’ve captured along the way. I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy bringing them here to you.
Warmest regards,
- Roy

DSLR Camera. An important tip to consider with photography is that photography is one case where you might be at the mercy of the tools you use. This is important to consider because there is only so much you can do with a non dSLR camera due to processor and lens limitations. Invest in a DSLR camera. The single best thing you can do to improve your photography is to purchase a good camera. A digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera allows you to use lenses specific to the type of photography you are pursuing, and offer the ability to control every setting…
